  • Rating for the National Team

    Jun 1, 2019

    1. GM E.Bareev - the Champion.

    2. GM A.Kovalyov 2631-10=2621

    3. GM E.Hansen 2611-10=2601

    4. IM N.Noritsyn 2508+10=2518

    5. GM A.Hambleton 2487+20=2507

    6. GM K.Spraggett 2510-10=2500

    7. GM K.Yang 2497

    8. GM R.Preotu 2502-10=2492

    9. GM B.Sambuev 2502-10=2492

    10. GM A.Lesiege 2500-10=2490

    Some explanations:

    1. According to CFC rules, 10 points subtracted for any player who didn't play in Canadian Closed. 20 points bonus for the Silver, 10 points for the Bronze.

    2. Olympiad scheduled for Aug 1 - Aug 15, 2020. The deadline is 5 months before the start. So, Mar 1, 2020 is the date for the final rating list for the National Team.

    3. Players need to play at least 20 rated games (FIDE or CFC) in the 12 months period before the deadline. That means, the period is Mar 1, 2019 - Mar 1, 2020.

    4. R.Preotu is above B.Sambuev in this list because he is younger.

Looks like a nice team if most of the top players will play. Hopefully Victor will be the captain.

I assume the date at the beginning of the post is a typo. Have they all played 20 games as of June 1?

Thank you, I fix it. Not too many top players have already played 20 games, but we still have almost 9 months for this requirement.

Spraggett doesn't play for Canada so why insult us with his name.

John, I really want to apologize. The last thing I wanted was to insult you. Sorry for it.

Seriously speaking, we have to follow our rules. K.Spraggett is absolutely eligible to play for Canada, although it's very like that he will not play again. But the decision is his own.

Ya why insult us with the name of the most accomplished player in Canadian history.
