    • Theres a must see game Amin-Sadhwani. Black grabs the pawn e2 with his bishop. Now its not so much that White has the E file. Its also that whites pieces come in so fast. I love graphic lessons like this game.

      • You might suppose that Anand overlooked his back rank but the position was bad way before that. Maybe even before exchange of queens. I think somehow (unless White had kingside chances) he was strategically busted. (look at the bad queenside pawns and white lacks a good pawn lever)

        • Nice finish by Sarana

          • I wish Robert Hess would play more. His games are entertaining more often almost then any other player. I ve been privileged to see his commentary at the Kingside Diner in St Louis but he is an even better player than commentator. Today the sequence of pins from move 27 is a spectacular way to simplify the game to a basic winning endgame.

                  Round Ten

                  Early Games

Daniel Rensch in his online blog discussed the Hansen – Saric game from yesterday and heaped all sorts of praise on Eric for taking a chance in the opening. Evidently he and Eric analyzed the game into the night, when the latter should have been getting his beauty sleep. I have been unable to see the analysis in print. If someone finds it, please post in this thread.

From yesterday’s play, John Saunders has posted this:

Wang Hao’s missed chance against Vitiugov in Round 9.

72….Kf6!! is the only way to win

                  ________

Fiona’s question of the day is this:

Whose story has been the most inspiring so far at the Isle of Man?

                  David Anton
                  Parham Maghsoodloo
                  Luke McShane
                  Other

                  • Howell over Grischuk - a real shocker but lovely play for White

                      • Hovhannisyan - nice pressure play - the black king position was open - its nice to see the attacking technique.

                              • Was too busy to follow much of the Xiong-Sevian game. Jeffrey's tricks should not have been enough but Sam Sevian slipped toward the end and let his advantage go.
