  • CFC Newsletter

The CFC has decided to publish a monthly newsletter, and I will be the editor. The newsletter will be published on the 21st of each month and will be available for download on the CFC website. The first issue will be available on September 21. Both Kevin Spraggett and Lawrence Day will be providing articles for the first edition. Deadline for submissions will be the 18th of each month.

I will be looking for chess news from Canadian organizers and players. Tournament reports, game submissions, and ads for coming events are welcome. I will not be a copy & paste from the internet piece of work. If you are providing game analysis, please submit in pgn format. Articles will be accepted in any electronic format.

I am also looking for a name for this newsletter. If you have some ideas, post them here.

Hi: "Chess Canada" is fine. So the newsletter is English only?

Let's call it En Passant and pretend its a chess magazine.

This seems to be a very pertinent question... Especially since there has been no response, I am guessing the answer is probably yes. It would be rather difficult to compete with Jean Hebert's HPE weekly mag.

As far as I know, english only at this point. I'm not sure if the CFC will decide to translate or even do a french version down the road.

                        Hi Tony:

Will an article be published if it is submitted in French? - a modest nod to bilingualism?

                          Canadian Chess Press?

or Zugzwang since we are forced to pay for it? :)

I don't think I could do a French article any credit since I don't speak or read enough of it to understand what is being said. I'm not saying there shouldn't be French content, just that I am not capable of editing in French.

I encourage people to get in touch with the CFC executive on this matter.
