  • Charlotte Winter Invitational - Canadian seeks final IM Norm

Mark Plotkin is trying to get, I believe, his last IM norm. Today, Mark saved what appeared to be a hopeless position. It is being shown on Chess24. Mark needs to finish strong as he has 1.5/4, but it looks like the IM norm should be about 5/9. Here is the link to today's games. https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-to...-2020-gm/4/1/2
    Good luck to Mark.

I was a little disappointed to see Mark take a six move draw today as white. Hopefully it was just the software stopped transmitting the moves!? So Mark has 3/7 and needs to win his last 2 games to make an IM norm. I think he has Mishra and Yip left to play. He could easily win both games.

https://www.chessbomb.com/arena/2020...k-Korley_Kassa I like this game. I do believe Mark has all his IM norms. I think he just needs to reach 2400.

Last round start, Mark vs Carissa.
Mark is hunting for the 3rd norm, he is the only one in the tournament with hope to get a norm now. Carissa already got her three IM norms and she is hunting for GM norm which will not happen in this tournament.
