@ Sam: I haven't seen anything about the need to disclose real name and avatar. You need to back your claim with evidence. I also haven't seen anything about disallowing promotion/advertisement for commercial purposes. Let's see how the site administrators would respond to your allegation.

I have done the same thing in other chess servers and I run into no issue. As soon as I come here, everyone is getting a little bit too careful here. Relax!

All I am really asking: do you want to buy books from me or not? If yes, we can talk about it. If not, you really have no business here and your time is better spent elsewhere.

@ Sylvain: Only second-hand books. They are as good as brand new, though.

I will be absolutely clear here: JUST ACCEPT THE WAY THINGS ARE!

I have sold many things over the years and I got it down to a T. Unless there exist very clear typos/mistakes, I will not tolerate any comment or feedback about how I should run things.

From now on, this discussion thread should be focused solely on the entire selling process. You can also message me privately about where you live for shipping purpose and your personal info would be kept strictly confidential.

If you want to buy something from me, great!. We can talk more about how to move forward. If you don't want to buy anything and you just want to complain, you would be escorted by security guards/police officers in brick and mortar bookstores. Why should it be different here?

Some of the issues have already been addressed in the previous discussion.

            Check out my website: https://chessbooksworm.wordpress.com/

Any comment related to so-called " improvement " would be flagged as HARASSMENT.

            You have been warned!

Just to be clear some of us hang here for a decade. Just a couple of years ago this thread would have been deleted in 10 min for many reasons mentioned in this thread. The topic of the thread goes quite fast off topic here too. Thus don't be surprised that nobody will care about your warning. You have been warned too LOL

I once had some chocolate cake; it was good, which is strange, as I normally don't like chocolate cake.

@ Egidijus: Prove it. I don't see any rule here which ban any promotion/advertisement or the need to disclose your true identity. If it's just your personal opinion, I am here to stay whether you like it or not.

As a law-abiding Canadian, I follow whatever the Site Administrator would say on these matters.

It definitely was a rule under Larry after much hassle with people who could say anything without being known by readers.

Since Dark Knight, maybe he doesn't mind? It should be a rule again or at least enforced again.

Maybe I owe people an explanation as to why I choose to remain anonymous. This isn't the first site where I promoted my products. Some site welcomes the idea and some don't. When I came forward in the past as a seller, people started insulting me personally or sending me hate emails for no reason other than me being a seller. I have decided to remain anonymous when it comes to online transactions.

I guess the reason behind revealing one's identity is to be able to hold one's conduct accountable. I do believe in keeping my conversation professional and respectful because that's how people conduct business. As long as I deliver and follow through on my promises, my true identity shouldn't be relevant. As I mentioned before, I use PayPal and it does have some kind of build-in insurance to keep your money safe. So really, you have nothing to worry about.

I hope that makes sense. I am still new around here and I am not trying to be mean or anything. I just want to make sure that the whole selling process is as hassle-free as possible. No offense intended.

                          Hi Kia:

The new owner of this discussion board is Henry Lam (aka Dark Knight). You may want to private message him re:

                          1. The prior owner allowed no "alias" registrations - I don't think it has, until now, come up as an issue since the sale of the board.
                          2. There is a $ 20 fee per chess tournament advertisement or $ 100 unlimited. Until now, I think the issue of using this board for other commercial selling has not arisen.

As a long-time board member, I can confirm the above facts are true.

And you are likely right that it would be best if there was mention of these things in the top of the scroll sticky by Dark Knight (I haven't gone to re-read its exact content).

                          Hope this may be helpful.

                            Hi all,

Below is my email message to Dark Knight:

                            " Hi, Henry

There are issues regarding the use of ChessTalk in which you can help me with some clarifications. Is it true that a registered member of ChessTalk must:

                            - Not have an "alias" registration.
                            - Pay $ 20 fee per chess tournament advertisement or $ 100 unlimited. What about the use of this board for other commercial selling purposes?

                            Thank you,

                            KIA "

Let's see what he has to said.

When you clicked "Sign Up" the very first thing it asked you for - after your DoB to make sure you were over 13 - was "Real Name" which I highly doubt is KIA. Is that sufficient evidence?

Oh I don't know, maybe it's different because it's not a brick and mortar bookstore?

Or even a place that you own/rent?

It's more like you are showing up at a coffee shop where some people have been hanging out for 20 years and trying to (anonymously) sell them some stuff, and then aggressively complaining when anyone has an issue with that.
