Here's some nice private feedback from one of the Arbiters at this event:

"America is by far the easiest continent"
"300 participants, no arbiter calls (1-2 by mistake)"
        "fantastic children, very cooperative"

We might have had seven players moving on except for the fact that Mailli-Jade Ouellet and Svitlana Demchenko were paired in the last round of the tournament.

            http://www.chesscanada.info/forum/sh...(Nov-17-Dec-23)

Note that there were 30 spots available for players from this tournament and Canada won six of 30 spots. We were competing with countries in all of the Americas. A very good result. Thanks to Christina Tao for organizing the Canadian team. We were awarded 19 additional spots by the organizers on very short notice. Second place finishers in the National were added to the qualifiers. Some of the spots went to the highest rated players in each age group and these were largely among the group that moved on to the championship stage. Shawn would have made it into the group of selected players if he had not already qualified through the National Online tournament put on by Juniors to Masters.

It's nice to see the posted recognition of Tania and David, both first class people!

And she was telling me that her "Americas" days ended around 430am her time!
