Artemiev cracks again in time trouble and Carlsen takes the lead! Vladislav now has a mountain to climb — he must win at least 2 of the next 3 games, while Magnus can win the title in the next game:

Artemiev played powerfully and forced Carlsen onto the defensive, but his advantage evaporated in his time trouble. Vladislav now needs to win the next 2 games on demand!

    Final Position

Carlsen wins the second day match 2.5-0.5

Congratulations to @MagnusCarlsen on winning the #AimchessUSRapid, his 3rd victory on the @Meltwater Champions Chess Tour!

Vladislav Artemiev's performance earned him a place in the Grand Final later this month, with his 2 finals and 1 semi-final an amazing performance given those were the only 3 #ChessChamps tour events he played!

The Meltwater Champions Chess Tour season is over apart from the Grand Final, with the Top 8 players qualifying (+ 2 wildcards). That last event starts in under 3 weeks, on September 25th!
