  • Firoujza on fire

I was off my computer for a week and when I came back I saw the news that Firoujza had climbed to number 3 in the world and was winning game after game at the European teams (and I noticed the move order on the French team: Firoujza, MVL, Bacrot and Moussard) I ve now looked at the games and noticed that Firoujza was into endgames every game and welcoming the opportunity!
(in the rd 4 Yilmaz game 23.b4! must have come as a shock to his opponent)

On the live ratings all time list only 14 players have made it over 2800 (ever). It looks like Firoujza will be next with his next win.

No endgame this time. Beautiful finish againt Jobava - queen and two knights (and rook) leading to Qxd8+.

The ending of Firouzja - Mamedyarov is fascinating. Black missed a draw at the end involving trading into a King and Pawn ending where White has an extra protected passed pawn (!)
