        Seeing the World Rapid Championship go from 15 rounds to 13 was an oddity, but seeing these tiebreak rules for a "World Championship" is beyond laughable.

            assuming the tiebreak rules are logical (which they aren't), why wouldn't Carlsen and Fabi at least have a playoff for the bronze?

            nodirbek is the deserving winner anyway so no big deal to me

                GM Magnus Carlsen speaking to NRK with a rant lasting several minutes about why he thinks the tiebreak rules in this event are unfair. "I just don't think this is fair. It has to be changed." and "It's just too amateurish in a world championship." Also saying he thinks the rule about a playoff for only the top two with the same amount of points is "completely idiotic".

                              Many FIDE tournaments have no play-off at all. Including candidates-2013, there Carlsen got the first place by better tie-break (against Kramnik).

                              Actually, Buchholtz is likely the most logical and fair tie-break in swiss tournaments.
