Bumping up with the update on the simul:

Nicholas will have a school exam on Dec 17 and he can not participate in the event. FM Mike Ivanov will replace him for the simul and he also will play in a rapid tournament. Mike is shy of couple rating points to get the IM title.

While we have several cancellation due to the rescheduling, the registration list is still long - 50 players. ( http://www.aucc.club/2022-10year/2022-10year-players/ )

              Tomorrow is the party :)

10 years ago the Aurora Chess Club started meeting regularly at the Aurora High School cafeteria. The official first move and the game was played by the town of Aurora mayor Geoffrey Dawe.

The membership grew and reached peak of ~80 members in 2017. After covid restart we have ~45 members now and growing one by one every week :)

The big shout out to Graeme Knight and Bernie Prost who started the pub & coffee meetups, grew to the meetings at the library, and finally establishing the non-for-profit organization - Aurora Chess Club.

The club ran all kind of the events: for club members - CFC rated tournaments; blitz and rapid tournaments. Every year in winter and summer we invited a strong player to give simuls.
Not to fry in the local pan we started organize Opens. Also it was a good practice for many players. And some got sold out.
Later we added a Chess Day. The last pre-covid tournament was for kids - Chess Challenge qualifier back in 2020. Unfortunately the Spring Open must be cancelled... The online life was hit and miss though.

Looking forward - catching up with championships - 2 per season - one for 2022, and other 2023. We'll do what we could not do - Spring Open - booked for 2023 March 25-26.

Tomorrow we'll have fun in rapid and simuls. And cherry on top - the cake :)

Updated the list: 64 - could not be better :)

You can still register. If you plan come tomorrow without registration still shoot an email. We'll have some extra sets but not too many. 40 clocks are already set for 8 min +2 s =10 years :)
