Let's not forget that there are a number of Canadians in the 50+ section. Victor Plotkin, David Cummings, Michael Dougherty, and Yves Morin all have 5.5/9, and David Filip[ovich and Dale Haessel are a point behind. https://chess-results.com/tnr691291....&art=4&flag=30

Jean is currently in 4 th place. GM Kristanssen is at 8.5, Nunn is at 8, 4 or 5 at 7,5 , and Jean is at 7 , he is +4 ( 5, 1, 4 draws), He had an amazing tournament and we can say that he is one of the best over 65 in the world. Congrats Jean. He is finishing his last round with an 1881 who is at + 7 . Super tournament for that guy also. Hope he doesn't beat Jean.

Jean Hébert will finally finish in 6 th place, an amazing performance for our Canadian veteran. He played well throughout having only one defeat against the newly crowned English GM John Nunn. Against Nunn, I thought Jean had played a bad opening but 6 Be3 should have been answered with 6 ... g5 and the game is complicated and equal according to stockfish 15.

If the winner is already a GM, is a GM title awarded to the highest scoring non-GM (Nils-Gustaf Renman - 8.5/11) or is no title awarded?

The problem is that most of the participants are from Europe. Next year, the Senior Individual will be in Sochi, Russia and no one has bid on the Senior Team Championship. Yes, it would be great if Canada could put in a bid, but it is a lot of work and money.

That event in Sochi should be moved away from a country of murdering bastards or it should be boycotted by every senior chessplayer with an ounce of decency.

I thought it rather incredible that Sochi was awarded the bid. I can't see many players going.

It is quite possible that the championship will be moved from Sochi. Let's not think ahead, but a lot can change next year.
