It was jaw-droppingly fun chess all weekend ... so many wild games in a playing hall perfectly suited to the registration levels, very well organized, bravo!

It would have been two Canadians tying for first if Liang hadn't won a dead lost game in the last round.

Congratulations to Koosha Jaferian and Victor Plotkin for important draws in the first round against much higher rated opponents.
Im following Canadian norm opportunities mainly.

But also following Alice Lee who got a draw against GM Bruzon as Black!

The Classical General Section tournament starts at 6:00 PM (Rd. 1/5) at Maplewood CC on Friday, June 9.

Have registrations yet been cut off?

If no, when will they be?

                      Just for future reference:
I went on Sunday and found there were many curbside spots open within 1 to 3 blocks to the West of the Church.
OTOH, traffic may have been lower than usual because Lakeshore West was closed in the morning for a bike-a-thon; it might be much busier on a normal weekend.

Nice squeeze and followup endgame by Thomas Roussel - Roozman. He is one of the five leaders with perfect score after two rounds! Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux had a steady draw and is in good position with 1.5,

Alice Lee won against a 2600+ and has 1.5 against two 2600's. Such poise at 13!

You're so right Hans: great transition-into-well-executed-endgame by Thomas, and yes, wonderful poise by Alice!

After no lower-rated wins in the first round, it was a more unpredictable second round, keeps getting more exciting!

YouTube coverage would have been amazing!
I'm sure someone has footage of the Blitz/rRapid/Classical?

Rd 4 Awonder Liang has the clear lead after round 4 after a sharp tactical struggle. Bator Sambuev also wins big.
