  • 2024 Maplewood Invitational

    The 2024 Maplewood Invitational has started today. It is one of the strongest round robins in Canada's history and a great opportunity for local players like GM Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux, GM Bator Sambuev, IM Nikolay Noritsyn, and IM Anthony Atanasov to test their skills against strong foreign players. GM norms are also achievable with 6 points out of 9 for both Nikolay and Anthony.

          Round 1 was very decisive with 4 wins and a fantastic draw from Bator against Ivan Saric.

            Round 3 has now started.

            IM Nikolay Noritsyn is facing GM Toms Kantans from Latvia to keep his hopes of a GM norm alive.

            GM Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux is facing the in-form GM Jorden Van Foreest who won the Canadian Open a few days ago with 8.5/9. Both are +2 after the first 2 rounds.

                          Round 5 has just started. Lichess broadcast will start with a 15 minute delay as usual.

                          GM Jorden Van Foreest (2685 live rating) is leading the tournament with 3.5 points and is facing GM Ivan Saric (2690).

                          GM Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux is second with 3 points after his draw against Saric this morning, and is facing GM Toms Kantans.

                          GM Aryan Tari (2637) is also on 3 points after his win against IM Nikolay Noritsyn in round 4.
