      Round 8 is ongoing.

GM Jorden Van Foreest from the Netherlands is having a monster performance with 6.5 out of 7. He beat GM Ivan Saric (2690), GM Aryan Tari (2637) among others so far, and is paired against GM Vignir Vatnar Stefansson from Iceland.

Jorden also won the Canadian Open with 8.5/9 just a week ago. It' a great recovery from the Dutch who had lost 43 points in 7 month, going from 2707 to 2664. Should he continue his form in round 8 & round 9, he could theoretically be back in the 2700 club after 2 weeks in Canada, if my calculations are correct (he currently stands at 2671).

GM Van Foreest is currently at 2696 so just one more win should put him up to 2700.

The last round will start at noon (15 min delay on the DGTs).

GM Jorden Van Foreest has already clinched the tournament with one round to spare, capping off a fantastic run in Canada. GM Shawn Rodrigue-Lemieux has delivered a solid performance, while GM Bator Sambuev has provided some thrilling chess throughout the event.

All the players have shown a serious intent to compete and fight for victories until the very end. Notably, there were no Berlins or quick draws in the first eight rounds, which has been refreshing.

The GMs displayed no mercy toward the IMs and FM Renzo Gutierrez, who fought valiantly in every game. This forced the higher-rated players to showcase their skills on the board in tense matches against the Peruvian. Although his final score may not reflect it, Renzo's seriousness and dedication were evident throughout the tournament as he worked hard at the board every minute of every game.
