Good grief. Christopher Yoo expelled from the tournament! I watched the video, he was clearly annoyed, but he helped reset the pieces, signed his opponent's scoresheet, but then screwed up his own scoresheet. He apparently then stomped out of the site, pushing a videographer on the way. The police were called. That's quite some tantrum!

I expected drama at the US Championships but not from Chris Yoo. He's usually very well mannered. Who's next drama wise?

Apparently he pushed the videographer because she politely enquired,
              "How are Yoo?"

Rd 6 Tatev Abrahamyan ventured an interesting opening against Carissa Yip which looks like a delayed Evans Gambit. We will see how it works out.

The immediate question is where will White castle?

The Yoo expulsion has made the standings chart chaotic. I'll try to keep things clear as to who has the lead but it might lead to situations like the current round. Fabiano Caruana has 3 out of 4, Awonder Liang 3 out of 5, Hans Niemann 3out of 5.

Rd 6 Fabiano Caruana turned his bad bishop into a good bishop and in the process won the game. He is now in clear first with 4 points and is on a roll.

Rd 6 Sam Shankland finally won a game but only because he was channeling Akiba Rubinstein. (tongue in cheek)

Rd 6 Carissa Yip took Tarev Abrahamyan's piece offer and then locked down her opponent's pieces for her sixth straight win. She is in another league tactically.

Alice Lee had a nice win over Jennifer Yu.
