... or perhaps dubious is the more proper word

For general entertainment purposes here are a couple of games I played in Guelph last weekend--
The first is a Halloween Gambit, an opening I did some analysis on with the hopes of playing it on October 31st at Chessca... Unfortunately after going out on the Friday night I was not up for the 2.5 hour drive to Elora. My young opponent stumbled somewhat, but found some nice practical tricks in the ending, and though I managed to sidestep them, losing two pawns made the game go unnecessarily long. For some somewhat disturbing analysis on the opening check out this link:

The second is a Traxler Gambit where indecisive play on the part of white leads to Black getting more than sufficient compensation for the rook.

    The first:
    1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Nc3 Nc6 4. Nxe5 Nxe5 5. d4 Ng6
    6.e5 Ng8 7. Bc4 Bb4 8. Qf3 Bxc3+ 9. bxc3 Qe7 10. O-O a6

    The second:

    6. Kf1 Qe7 7. Nxh8 d5 8. Be2 Bb6 9. d3 dxe4 10. Ke1 Be6
    11. Nc3 O-O-O 12. Bg5 Rxh8 13. Bxf6 gxf6 14. Nxe4 f5 15. Nf2 e4
    16. g3 Rf8 17. Nh3 f4 18. Nxf4 Rxf4 19. Qd2 e3 20. Qd1 Nd4
    21. Rf1 Rxf1+ 22. Kxf1 Qf6+ 23. Kg1 Qf2+ 24. Kh1 Bd5+ 0-1

After playing these games I could not help thinking of the old saying that the hardest thing to do in chess is win a won game.... logically this implies it would be easier to win a lost game, does it not?
Working...
