    EM-Aug 23rd -GrandPri-8 Top-3 from each section

    GP-8 Tournament Summary

    Open Section: Brian with a 2000+ rating was untouchable with 4/4

    Brian Profit won the Open with some tough fights given by Runner-up Leliveld Andrew and 3rd placed Anirud Chakkoli

    The Open Section was tough and was very competitive. The Game between Brian and Andrew in the 3rd round after both scored 2/2 in their opening matches was more of a decider. Brian showed his experience although Andrew was resilient but eventually had to cave in.

    Champion: Brian Profit (4/4)
    Brian was consistent and ruthless throughout, utilized his experience to the fore to be the winner. .


    Runner-up Tied: Andrew Leliveld (3/4)
    Andrew had a last Round challenging encounter with Pushkar. It was a closed drawing position but Andrew on the attack and Pushkar in defence. It was a slow churn of positional play, weakening Pushkar’s defence and eventually Andrew was able to squeeze out the win

    Third Place: Chakkoli, Anirud (2/4)
    Anirud, a product of EM had a bad day with an opening loss to Antonio in an acute time pressure having an equal position. In the last round, he misplayed the opening with Brian to get into a passive position and eventually lost



    U1900 Section: 3 Tied for 1st place - Pushkar, Antoni and Siddharth

    Champion: Kolhatkar Pushkar, Frolov Antoni and Nikul Siddharth (2/4)


    Although the honours are shared amongst the 3, but Pushkar gave a tough fight in his loses. Especially his game against Andrew went to the wire and also in the strong fight he showed against Brian

    Antoni played well above his rating in all his good games. Having a very good rating in Rapid/Blitz but with not much of games under Rapid, his patience was personified with win against Anirud

    Siddharth played against top players Brian and Anirud and lost but his wins against others made him a worthy champion

    U1200 Section: Aguilar Toyofuku, Santiago makes merry with 5/5!

          EM-Sep 27th -GrandPri-9 Top-3 from each section

          GP-9 Tournament Summary

          Open-U1900 Section: Jared was ominous with 4/4

          Jared Byers won the Open-U1900 with some tough fights given by Runner-ups Temiloluwa and Gus Lejia


          Champion: Byers, Jared (4/4)
          Jared played his usual calm and composed game to come out a worthy winner. He had his nervy moments against the Runners-up but played well to win the Gold

          Runner-up Tied: Aderogba, Temiloluwa and Guan, Gus Lejia (3/4)
          Temiloluwa and Gus Lejia gave very tough fight to Jared but they couldn’t cross the line.


          U1200 Section: Nishant Karthick and Aguilar Toyofuku, Santiago Tie for 1st place with 4/5!



          Champion: Karthick, Nishant and Aguilar Toyufuku, Santiago (5/5)


          Nishant, a student of EM Tied for 1st place with a loss against Santiago
          Santiago after his win against Nishant was stunned by another EM player Raksha which stopped him from getting a clear Gold.

          Third Place: Patel, Dev and Suresh, Raksha (3/5)

          Dev, one of our former EM student, was off-colour in the initial 2 rounds but made a strong statement with 3/3

          Raksha, one of EM upcoming player after losing to Nishant, took down the strong Santiago but lost to Dev

              EM-Oct11th -GrandPri-10 Top-3 from each section

              GP-10 Tournament Summary U1900 Section: Chenhao was dynamic and unbeaten with 3.5/4

              Chenhao won the U1900 with some tough fights given by Ahaan, Nishant and Tejaasree


              Champion: Ge, Chenhao (3.5/4)
              Chenhao played calm and composed games to come out a worthy winner. He had his nervy moments against the Runners-up but played well to win the Gold

              Runner-up: EM Ahaan Agrawal (2.5/4)
              Ahaan, One of our advanced student played a very good game to draw against Chenhao and in a near equal position against Nishant, had a rush of blood to blunder his Rook and the game.


              U1200 Section: Nishant Karthick got the Gold with 2.5/4!


              Champion: EM Karthick, Nishant (2.5/4)
              Nishant, one of our Intermediatestudent came 1st place with a loss against Chenhao and a lucky draw against Tejaasree in a see-saw battle


              Runner-up Tied: EM Praveen, Tejaasree (1.5/4)
              Tejaasree, a student of Bright Minds Academy and one of our key EM student, had her chances against Nishant but couldn’t keep her cool to draw the game.

                EM-Oct 25th -GrandPri-11 Top-3 from each section

                GP-11 Tournament Summary

                Open Section: Jared Byers and Gayathri Sreekumar Tie for Gold with 4/5


                Jared’s hope of winning with 5/5 was brought to a halt by an excellent play by Gayathri to come out triumph over the seasoned player

                Champion: Jared and Gayathri (4/5)
                The Top-3 seeds had pulled each other down for the Race to the Top. Jared bet Shiva , Gayathri beats Jared and Shiva bet Gayathri. Additionally, Shiva was held to a draw in the 1st round to be content with a U1900 finish. Unfortunately with limited players participating had to club all the sections

                U1900 Section: Shiva Chakkoli wins the Gold with 3.5/5


                Shiva with White was able to take advantage of an opening mistake by Gayathri and got a podium finish in the U1900 section

                Champion: Chakkoli, Shiva (3.5/5)
                After scoring 0.5 after 2 rounds, Shiva scored 3/3 in the last 3 Rounds to have a podium finish.

                Runner-up: Tied Sreekumar Maleikal, Balakrishnan and Siddharth Nikul (1.5/5)
                In the 1st Round, Siddharth thwarted with an excellent defence on the continuous attach from Shiva to sign off peace in the end

                In the last Round, Sreekumar after set back in the initial rounds, had a good win against Siddharth to tie for Silver


                U1200 Section: Azlan Shamshi got the Gold with 0.5/5 !

                Champion: Azlan Shamshi (0.5/5)
                Shamshi was able to hold Sreekumar with a creditable performance.
