The IMs had a tough round.

Jason Liang exchanged down to a draw with Max England.

Anthony Atanasov had a kingside attack but in the end it looked like Savio Joseph Benher was up a rook. Anthony will get it back but lose his queen pawns. Was there a forced perpet?

Mark Plotkin had kingside pressure and in the time scramble Patrick Huang, up an exchange and three pawns to two Bees, cracked, losing his queen, then king.

Nicholas Vetesse, against James Windram, went for Queen versus two rooks, plus pawns, and in the time scramble won a rook for a passed pawn.

The round 4 broadcast also not working for me. Sigh. I guess I'll go cut the grass instead...

In round three after I finished my game I got up and the first thing I saw was Zach Dukic's hand play the brilliant move Rd8!! I think his opponent went into shock because I dont think he saw it in advance. It was an endgame and there was White pawns on b6 and c6, a black pawn on b7, the white rook on d8 check, the black king on c8. The idea was Kxd8 forced and then white pawn on c6 captures pawn on b7 and the pawn cant be stopped from queening. I have to ask Zach for the exact position. Its great when you can be a player and a spectator at the same time.

Nice finishes by GM Razvan Preotu, IM Anthony Atanasov, and FM Zach Dukic in the final round led to a three way tie for first. (at least that is the way I see it - I hope I'm right)

I especially liked Zach Dukic's final move f4+, an example of a pawn tickler!
