    Chess Challenge - Update

This unique Canadian Team Challenge Event is now incorporated into a weekend of chess, organized by our partner, Chess4Win.

Sat., Aug. 9 - There will now be a rapid tournament ......juniors will qualify for their team by coming 1st/2nd in their rapid sections among juniors.

Sun., Aug. 10 - A Blitz Tournament; The Team Challenge Event will run contemporaneously with this tournament, starting between 9-10 AM.

NOTES: 1. Integrating the 3 events has meant moving the Challenge from the Sat. to the Sun.
    2. Our partner, Chess4Win, will cover the Challenge Event costs out of part of the 2 tournament revenue.

We've conscripted a "ringer" - Hans has volunteered. He is our 1st board, so far.

Unfortunately, Toy now has a conflict, and must withdraw as Back-Up # 1.

Hi Bob, Small correction. I have been in Kitchener for 25 years now. (although London would like to have me). Thanks for finding a masters rating for me. My FIDE rating is as old as I feel.

This is a very unique national event!

Last night, at the Annex CC, I spoke with John Upper, editor of the CFC magazine.

He said he will drop in to the match, take some photos, and do a write-up for the CFC Magazine.

Thanks to John, and the CFC.

The 2025 Canadian Inter-Generational Chess Challenge

GWWS(80+) is the team organizer. Besides its own members playing, it can conscript non-member seniors (65+) if needed to complete its team.

We are building Our Team - one player at a time!

We recently were approached by a "Senior Wannabe", Don Parakin (64 years and 9 months old on Aug 10). He wondered how strictly the rules on age were being followed? Now we all know and like Don! And he'd be a great addition. As well, Don has been one of our "Supporters" from the founding of the group, and is on our Member Waiting/Supporters List (Which gets them all our public emails so they stay in the loop).

                                BUT.........we do have match rules......hmmm.......Seniors (65+ y.o.).

So we decided there might be some wiggle room here. The compromise was that we would put him in our "Back-up Pool" as # 1 (To play as a substitute for a team member, if, at the last minute, they cannot play).

We also had to advise Don that we have two partners in this little effort. So......we have to get April Zhong of Chess for Connection, forming the junior team, and our partner, Chess4Win, to consent to this little tweak of the rules.

Don, and us, are now breathlessly awaiting the word from on high!
