This is awesome! I would love to see some stats. How many tournaments have you run on this tour? How many participated? Any new CFC memberships?

The Kelowna Summer Rapid Championship took place this past evening at the Downtown Kelowna Library in one all-open section

After a hard-fought, competitive 5 rounds of play, the winners were: 1st place- Andrew Court finishing with a perfect score of 5/5(!) and winning the top prize of $150; and 2nd and 3rd places- a 2-way tie between Justin Kalef and Liam May- sharing split prizes of $75 each

For full tournament results see this link

I want to extend special thanks to Berry de Groot- local organizer; and Evan Burgess- from the Okanagan Regional Library for both of their support for this event and for enabling this event to be held at such a nice venue! It was great to host this event alongside both of their support!

The Whitehorse Summer Rapid and Blitz Championships are set to take place this Saturday in the Yukon. For those considering joining- hurry- sign up now and don't miss out!

I would like to extend special thanks to Shawn Underhill and the Titan Tavern & Geek Shop for supporting the event with a great venue and chess clocks; and to Nathan Doiron- a leading chess supporter and promoter in the Yukon for helping bring everything and everyone together- it wouldn't be possible without their support!

My apologies for those looking to view the pictures from the Whitehorse Summer Rapid and Blitz Championships- I realized just now that I had forgotten to adjust the access parameters to let you guys see it. The links should be good for all to view now- enjoy!

Just a reminder that there is still one more stop to come on the Western Summer Chess Tour- for the Calgary Summer Rapid and Blitz Championships. Full details about both are in these links:

            Calgary Summer Rapid Championship
            Calgary Summer Blitz Championship

If you haven't done so already, sign up now and don't miss out on the fun and excitement!! The Rapid will have a CMA-Rated Junior Section; and the Blitz will be held in one all-open section that will be both FIDE-Blitz-Rated and CFC-Quick-Rated. Snacks will be provided thanks to the support of the Checkmate Foundation!

                Hi Bob,

Thank you so much for your kind words and support- I really appreciate it!

Supporting and promoting chess through organizing is what I love most! Getting to visit the organizations and people who support and promote chess on a regional and local level all throughout, as well as the members that comprise the chess communities, has been among my greatest joys through the tours I have undertaken so far! It is great to see everyone coming together for something we all love- chess! And I look forward to doing tons more of it!

It's been a while since we last saw each other- I hope everything is going amazing for you! If you'd like to keep in touch, here is my email (same as on the flyers to my events): daniel.rokhvarger@yahoo.ca. It would be great to hear more from you!

                Kind regards,
                Daniel
