Mark finished with 7 points from 11 games. His results were in accordance with the odds and he beat every player that was lower rated than him and lost to all players that were higher rated. A few interesting things I noticed:Originally posted by Hans Jung View PostMark Plotkin is having a hard time with GM's but I like his combative and combinative style. Mark has 5 out of 9.
1) Mark had no draws with all of his games being decisive
2) In all of Mark's games against higher rated players, he had the black piecesLast edited by Michael; Wednesday, 10th June, 2026, 07:36 PM. Reason: Correction: Mark scored 7 points from 11 games, not 7 from 9 games as I initially wrote

Sam Shankland is in clear first with 7 after eight rounds. Thats a tortuous pace.

In addition to the classical tournament, there is also a 9 round rapid tournament with 5 games played yesterday and the final 4 games to be played tomorrow. After 5 rounds, Mark is at a perfect 5 points and is tied for first with GM Rodrigp Vasquez Schroeder. The two play each other in round 6.
