Well, I asked Gary before if he'd stopped beating his wife yet, so I think I'll wait for him to answer that first.

I'm smarter than you. I KNOW you never ask a man that. It's the wife who needs to be asked. I'm surprised you don't know that.

Now you have a reply, how about you answer my question?

Who me? This Mac Davis tune sums it up better.

Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
when you're perfect in every way.
I can't wait to look in the mirror
cause I get better looking each day.

To know me is to love me
I must be a hell of a man.
Oh Lord it's hard to be humble
but I'm doing the best that I can.

I used to have a girlfriend
          but she just couldn't compete
with all of these love starved women
who keep clamoring at my feet.

Well I prob'ly could find me another
but I guess they're all in awe of me.
Who cares, I never get lonesome
cause I treasure my own company.

I guess you could say I'm a loner,
          an outlaw tough and proud.
I could have lots of friends if I want to
but then I wouldn't stand out from the crowd.

Some folks say that I'm egotistical.
Hell, I don't even know what that means.
I guess it has something to do with the way that I
fill out my skin tight blue jeans.

I think Tiger Woods is a find athlete and golfer. The only two other golfers I can name without looking are John Daly and Mike Weir. I wish him well in his personal life.

Regarding the song, it played on the radio for many weeks several years ago. I think it might have been considered the funniest song of the year, or maybe even decade. I'm thinking maybe 20 years ago but it's a guess.

More importantly, did you see the results on that Gallup poll done in the USA on Global Warming? I'd hate for you to miss it so here it is again.

I don't have a high speed connection and on the regular dialup the large presentations are too much. I don't know if the gallup polls will show an increase in sentiment toward climate change or if there is a strong downward trend which will take much more convincing "evidence" to reverse. It appears the Americans are getting deep pockets and short arms when it comes to their government throwing money at climate change. Better chance the democrats will see government change if they insist on throwing money at that.

I'm not really looking to use less than 25 liters of water a day. An outhouse in the outback doesn't sound very nice and might well be against the local bylaws for apartments and homes in this area. Probably a waterless urinal is somewhere in the picture.

You might have noticed Alberta has recently changed their royalty structure for both oil and natural gas. They have lowered the royalties to try to entice the drillers back to the province to rape their resources. When they raised those rates they were the ultimate climate friendly province because the cost of taking resources was enough to bring tears to the eyes of an onion.

Anyhow, here's a great piece I read today. I would imagine the Americans read this stuff with interest.

                    Hello Gary,

The Sierra Club webcast is one that I just recorded today; I talk ad-lib for just under 1 hour on some of the basic science on climate change and the politics. People online asked questions that I responded to.

I do not just cut and paste articles from others; I am doing the research myself at university.

Perhaps next time you are at a library with high-speed internet you can check it out.

                    Regards,
                    Paul

Did you read about the U of T study that Greens tend to be more dishonest and steal more than other students who do not identify themselves as environmentally conscious?

No I did not read it. What is the point or relevance of your post? What are you implying? You certainly love labelling. Greens are dishonest? How low can you go with your posts?

Oh, they haven't even come close to how low they are willing to go, believe me.

Well I googled this study you speak of, and found nothing. I was curious as to it's validity and whether the results were properly interpreted. So often I find with climate deniers, statements are taken out of context.

Is this a real scientifically valid study?

or is it one of those "are you still beating your wife" type statements? :(

I don't recall if I saw it in the Toronto Star or the Globe and Mail. Some days I have both papers but not often.

The online version isn't identical to the print version of The Star. As an example, I don't find the chess column or jumble online.

It made for light reading but not something I'd take seriously.

This climate stuff is pretty good. I bought some shares in a company which is a partner in the Alberta Carbon Trunk Line Project. (ACTL). The project will capture CO2, transport the CO2 240 km and inject at Clive.

                              Government funding for ACTL
                              –Alberta $495 million
                              –Federal $63 million

I guess the idea is to inject the CO2 and push out the oil.

Does this make me an environmentalist or a snake oil purchaser? :)

                                http://www.rotman.utoronto.ca/newthi...enproducts.pdf

"Building on recent research on behavioral priming and moral regulation, we find that mere exposure to green products and the purchase of them lead to markedly different behavioral consequences. In line with the halo associated with green consumerism, people act more altruistically after mere exposure to green than conventional products. However, people act less altruistically and are more likely to cheat and steal after purchasing green products as opposed to conventional products. Together, the studies show that consumption is more tightly connected to our social and ethical behaviors in directions and domains other than previously thought."

Given the very public statements made by once well regarded environmental groups with regard to a willingness to lie in order to advance their agenda these results are not entirely surprising. There is something corrupting in the whole green movement or any movement where truth is not the prime concern.

It is necessary to gather all the facts before making environmental decisions as consumers, taxpayers and concerned citizens. Are paper bags more environmentally friendly than plastic? Probably not. Much of the environmental hype is based on lies, bad assumptions and the hope of perpetual government subsidies.

Case in point: the plan to place wind turbines off shore in the Great Lakes and in residential/agricultural areas. Are these projects really environmentally friendly?
