  • The fourth edition of Des échecs en plein air

The event offers everyone a chance to play chess on a superb site located between the Atwater Market and the Lachine Canal, in Montreal (metro Lionel-Groulx).

Rain or shine, we can accomodate about a hundred chess players under our tent each weekend from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tables and chess sets are provided, and there are two giant chess sets.
Three animators are on site. You can be initiated to te game, learn new strategies or simply play for fun. These free activities take place each weekend, even during a tournament or a special event.

    Hi Felix,

This is an excellent project and that is why the Chess'n Math has been one of the sponsors from the beginning.

I note that there will be a tournament for young players but I don't see any mention of it being rated by the Chess'n Math Association.

As I wrote on the french board, yes the tournament is CMA rated.

And Sankalp Modwal (2219) has already confirmed his presence this week-end.

10 players played this weekend in the Florence Maltais' Homage tournament. 3 young players, William Yip (grade 3), Xavier St-Cyr (grade 3) and Mattew Yip (grade 2) decided to compete for the first time against adults and the results are quite impressive! These are definitely names to remember :)

Serge Lemieux won a participation prize, 50% of discount on the next tournament being held in two weeks, the 25 hours.
Congratulations to all those who came, even with the awful weather.
