I was just informed by IM Artem Samsonkin, that he will be joining very stong field of players!

Confidence is not my problem and beating someone five hundred points lower rated wouldn't restore it if it was my problem. I would rather lose a tough game against a 2100+ opponent than win easily against someone rated 1500. Of course if the 1500 makes me work really, really hard that is not as bad.

This calendar year I am playing every chance that I get just to see how many CFC rated games I can get in aside from instances where I am unlikely to get to play any opponents near my rating. Next year my sanity may return and I might cut back and play sixty or eighty games like a normal person. I will probably cut back on the tournaments where I have no chance of achieving a good performance rating.

For the most part I agree with this point and if in the future Hamilton can consistently get a large enough turnout I will definitely recommend we adopt a similar rule to our board.

Well if no more players join the Open section I'll be playing him round 1...fantastic...

How do floaters effect the pairings?

Garvin. well now I'm not going to play artem but one of the other masters below him.

50 players now confirmed, more to come for sure.

Building administration has assured us the air conditioner will be operating better than last year. For those with long memories, last year was just a bit warm.

So, if that was worrying you, don't, sign up now!!

                    It's $5 more at the door. :o

Floaters are used to make sure everyone gets to play. (Ie. They play when there is an odd number.)
