  • All-time TOP 5 fights on Chesstalk

We all like a good tussle, and in recent weeks we've seen a fair amount of brouhaha's boiling over here on Chesstalk.

I'd like to conduct a poll (unconstructive) to see what posters believe are the All-time TOP 5 fights on Chesstalk. Perhaps we can award the winners tickets to a UFC fight night or Jerry Springer (or maybe they'd be better off as the show's guests). But first we must receive nominations!

    Accepting suggestions such as:
    Daswani - Dixon
    Dixon - Dobrich
    Dobrich - Bindi Cheng

Ding ding ding, fight! fight! fight!
    Who else?

    How about
    Bonham-Hebert
    or
    Siddeley-Smith (from the old board)

Some of the fights in the Climate Change topic would probably make it on to your list.
University and Chess, a difficult mix.

Nice, Bonham-Hebert added to the list.
        Siddeley-Smith wasn't a fight, it was a pummeling!

Thanks for your input, but I haven't touched that thread because it's too large. Can you or anyone else help me with some names from it?

It was a tag team match:

Beckwith & Seedhouse vs. Drkulec & Ruben
            Only the rushing is heard...
            Onward flies the bird.

Speaking of Ruben, isn't there some long-standing occasionally-returning thing going on with Smith? I might have the names wrong, and if so, I sincerely apologize. But if they are right, then that would be my vote, as it seems to have been going on for years! :)

I have no bad feelings toward any of the people mentioned as verbal sparring partners with me. Simply difference of opinion on topics.

I don't know if he feels differently but I don't lose any sleep over our discussions. :)

Great, some tag team action! Cheers.

Of course, how could I forget Ruben vs Smith, definitely one of the longest feuds dating back to the old board (and 19th century)!

How could I forget Berson vs Pimentel, that was a doozy!

LOL, thanks Hugh for confirming my vague recollections on this! I try to forget the feud postings before I even finish reading them, so I wasn't sure of the names, but yes, I thought it dated back to the old board, and the Ottawa board, and a galaxy far far ... ;)

Perhaps the reason some are hard to recall is that they are ancient history and were dropped by the participants? I don't see the value in dredging them up.

Nothing to it at all. I don't think he understood my pleasant personality and easy going ways. :D

I thought it was you who didn't get along with him. Wasn't there some chain yanking involved. :)

There isn't any value... do we always have to have value? :D
