Hugh already had 2 other carbon sheets submitted, apparently from the first couple of rounds. Round 3 games were generally being kept for a drawing of other prize lots. Perhaps the pairing with Hugh was changed, & the (unknown) opponent didn't update the new name - or was brought from another tournament.

Lee Hendon also had a couple of gamesheets that he misplaced at round 2, but the carbon-sheet games appear shortly. Watch for a 2 Kts type of smothered mate, he says...

          Re: Kitchener Chessfest - games

IO/IA Hal Bond asked to have the exceptionally well-debated top board of the 5th round available for tonight's potentially good struggle to attach to the CCN letter due out soon. I dug through a few of the top round 3 & 4 games, but the remainder of rounds 5-7 & other games are looking at becoming a thick stack, due to the collection pool of scoresheets. Also had to reset a lan password which took a bit of unexpected troubleshooting (or it'd be up an hour earlier).

http://www.chessfest.ca/ has cross-tables, next tentative pairings, etc for many of the 5 events sections.

Looked like inthe hall that they started getting deep thoughts of the consequences of Bxc3, etc. An hour's port-mortem tried to decide whether the prep gave than a +1 or so computer prep eval for white.

                  Re: Kitchener Chessfest - games

A local club player, Ralph, leads by a 0.5 point after round (apparently, it is a qualifier for 60+ (? - hoping that number is correct) players to try the World or Continental Senior Championship). Does anyone know whether Mr Findlay & Mr Finlay are two separate FIDE card entries or not? Istvan is also a local, & found another game of his to post up. Mr. Ortiz & his opposition had an interesting 4th round game, which might go to further appeal for the Arbiter seeing a help-mate possibility with a flag fall situation that turned out to be similar to a Women's Candidates match (or similar, I believe) from a couple of years ago. Arbiter adjudication rarely happens anymore, but for some endings with Pawnless material that requires an opposing piece to self-block to assist with a mating sequence, this TD noticed a flag & chose to call it immediately - instead of potentially waiting & reserving a decision for later - or for a player to call or continue for mate / stalemate. Stay tuned this week for other games to be posted.

These games have become part of my collection of games. I like the games specially on the Dragon and the French.

Good job to both Kai and Lee! I hope you will provide this service in the coming years.......
