It's a pretty sad story. The players from both teams came to play, and both teams made some moves. Then the government of Yemen stepped in. They withdrew the team and ordered all the players home for playing with Israelis and started to fire chess officials in charge. Sounds like the players were pretty brave and just wanted to enjoy their Olympiad without any political stuff... too bad.

That seems not true (as several sources reported). There was a glitch with online translations that you (us) observed those moves of the match

So, does that mean the Yemen team (the players) are still there and still playing? The previous report indicated they were ordered home... perhaps home was the hotel not Yemen?

At the moment, I guess Yemen forfeited the first round match to Israel but seemed to do well in the 2nd round?

I wonder if the players themselves could care less - perhaps this is the case. Team officials (or government bureaucrats) are the ones who are dishing out the politics. Does Palestine have a team?

It looks like they were picking up the moves from another game for whatever reason. Some speculate that the organizers didn't want to show that there was a forfeit. Also, if those moves were played out, it wouldn't have been a forfeit, rather than a resignation.

Now the head of the Israeli Chess Federation made an appeal to ban the Yemenites from playing in this tournament, unfortunately this won't happen. Interestingly enough the Indonesians showed up today and managed a 2-2 draw with Israel. For a while there was hope that it was "fake" Indonesia as well:)
