  • Spassky in critical condition

There is a report on Chessbase that GM Spassky has suffered a stroke and is in critical condition.
I met GM Spassky in North Bay in the early nineties. He was a real gentleman and even allowed my friends and I to take a picture of us playing black against him in a King's Gambit.
A true Champion. Get Well Soon GM Spassky and a speedy recovery.

According to my friend, Russian chess writer and historian Sergey Voronkov, Boris Spassky is in much better condition now. The most important that he was flown back to France from Russia. Russia is the worst place in the world to be sick.
