Re: How to Reassess Your Chess - 4th Edition
I just got my hardcover copy from Silman-James Press; an early Christmas present. :) The book is gorgeous and arrived in perfect condition. They even threw in a t-shirt with the image of the book cover on the front.Originally posted by Neil Sullivan View PostAfter lengthy delays, it appears this book is almost ready. The Siles Press website has a release date, Oct. 15, and a cover image.
They are making the claim that the book has been completely rewritten.
I would expect CMA to carry it.

Re: How to Reassess Your Chess - 4th Edition
Because I have never felt I need to choose sides in this matter, I can freely state that I have enormous respect for Kevin and everything he has accomplished in chess. I can say the same about Larry.Originally posted by Kerry Liles View PostSt. Spraggett is the one that seems to consistently bash Larry and (I think) the CMA... KS keeps promising to publish his blockbuster tell-all expose of the chess scene in Canada, but no sign of it yet. Maybe CMA would publish it? lol
No one should be immune from criticism. But, I only respect criticism that addresses specific behavior(s). A broad brush approach to attacking anyone never impresses me.
I personally think Kevin is having a laugh over all those who are chomping at the bit to read his "exposé". What's that joke that kids tell: "How do you keep a moron in suspense?" :)

I'm on record as saying that buying chess books from amazon is short-sighted.

Yes? Amazon usually sells for less than the list price. It would be surprising if they did not.Originally posted by Andrei Botez View PostI notice that Amazon.com has it for $19.77

Re: How to Reassess Your Chess - 4th Edition
I had a pleasure meeting Jeremy Silman in person at North Bay tournament.
I used to own this classic and in fact bought from the man himself. It also helped to gain 200 rating points or so. He was doing analysis of people games, and even analysed few grandmaster games for live audience. I found his live commentary simple and instructive. I will definitely be picking this great classic as well. :D
