He's Jonathan Duhamel from Boucherville, Quebec. Looking briefly at his on-line profile it seems he's gained most of his experience playing over the internet. Just a few cashes in tournaments, but now he's a multi-millionaire. Live the dream!

You should really edit the title and say spoiler.. a lot of people were planning on watching this tonight with hole cards and didn't know the results yet.

Crap. It is already an old news. Probably EVERY Canadian news-station/paper reported it.

Does anyone know whether he used to play chess?!

Sure, a bunch do but that doesn't make it OK. That's why one that would care wouldn't read the news today, but you'd think you can navigate to a chess forum and not find out the results =]

Besides, many sites (ESPN) are very careful to not report it unless you specifically navigate to their poker page.

Anyways, I don't personally care because I watched it yesterday, but I moderate another forum where there are several people up in arms because I didn't edit someone's post title to include *SPOILER* quickly enough (rightfully so in my opinion). Just my two cents.

hehe - I have a feeling that he will soon discover a number of long-lost cousins and second-cousins...

I hope he knows about that company that advertises they can help you reclaim the US taxes on lottery and casino winnings...

Best article about WSOP is here:

                  http://www.taxabletalk.com/2010/11/0...of-poker-2010/

You can probably rest pretty safely knowing he's using better tax representatives than some cheesy late night infomercial guys to ensure he gets as much of his money as he can.

I won't argue with Mr Fox about the tax authorities grabbing a huge chunk of the winnings, but he really should know that the euro is worth more than the US dollar. He writes about the Italian, Filippo Candio: "For finishing fourth, he earned $3,092,545 (€4,343,462)." That's not right!
