Very impressive win... I was surprised that Kramnik didn't resign earlier, as was most of the kibitzers on the Chessbomb site.

I really don't understand why he sacced a piece, it looked like more of a topalov home prep gone wrong than a kramnik game with white. I think hes nearly unbeatable with whiteShameless self-promotion on display here

Shipov commented that Kramnik tried to play like Tal or Kasparov :) Instead a solid pawn e3 would give a better position.Originally posted by Bindi Cheng View PostI really don't understand why he sacced a piece, it looked like more of a topalov home prep gone wrong than a kramnik game with white. Re: Happy Birthday Hikaru Nakamura!
Yan and Kramnik were in the same class in Dvoretsky's chess school. Without going into the details, suffice it to say that Kramnik was a bully and Yan did not appreciate his behaviour.Originally posted by Hans Jung View PostBut Hikaru - Yan's not a GM (although he should be) and he's your hero?? - Kasparov would consider him a tourist.
By defeating Kramnik, Hikaru won some retribution for Yan. Congratulations and happy birthday!
