    Re: Federal election 2011 predictions

Paul, remember that only 18% of eligible Canadian voters voted for the NDP...(30% x 60%)...

Paul remember that only 2.4% of eligible Canadians voted for the Greens who were the only honest environmental nuts in the election.

The sensible people of Canada have bought ourselves four years of Pax Harper at which point global warming hysteria will have died its well deserved death. We can't afford to pay for your insanity, sorry. You made it very clear that Harper was going down big time. He didn't. You haven't been able to read the mood of the people and you never will because your hubris is similar to the hubris of the Liberal party without the charm of its former leader Ignatieff.

Next item on the agenda is the removal of the provincial Liberals in Ontario and the ending of their insane green energy platform overspending. I must admit though that on issues other than energy Pupatello and Duncan have been good MPPs for Windsor. It may be unfortunate if they get caught in the meat grinder that is heading the way of the Liberal Party of Ontario.

The only problem that I can see is that you are unable to come to terms with the fact that large numbers of people disagree with you.

Another way of looking at the numbers is that in addition to the 24% that voted Conservative another 40% of the eligible electorate were happy enough with the status quo to let everyone else decide. That gives the Harperites a 64% mandate. :p :D

        Youth vote, it didn't happen....

You know who would look very good running as a Conservative in four years in Windsor? Eddie Francis the current mayor of Windsor.

Vlad, you are wrong on climate change; and have no credentials to have a meaningful view on it. Climate change is occurring, and we will all pay the piper for it; sooner than later. You have no idea what you are talking about regarding climate change. Gloat all you want...

Again with the "credentials". Should only scientists have voted in the election?

Human beings are imperfect. We will continue to make imperfect decisions, political and otherwise.

If we simply realize this and acknowledge that we are created this way and our destiny lies beyond ourselves and in non-judgmental, then we can happily accept all events as they unfold and stop trying for a utopian scientific God-less society... while equally stop trying for a fundamentalist Jesus- or Muhammad-centered society.

But of course, human beings are imperfect and will continue to make imperfect decisions. Ahhhh, yes, the universe is unfolding as it should.

"honest environmental nuts" You forget that you are part of the environment; as much as you do not like it you are.

"global warming hysteria" The only hysteria in this is in the denial industry of which you are proudly a member. Behind the denial industry are the oil, coal, and numerous other powerful companies. On the other side, is the science...

"sensible people of Canada" unfortunately have been brainwashed with the lies of the right wing. As their rights are dismantled slowly but surely maybe they will wake up...

I did not predict the election. I had hopes but no predictions. Once again you are making things up. The only insanity is ignoring climate change.

I get my knowledge on climate change from peer reviewed scientific papers. If 99 other people get their knowledge on climate change from Vlad, National post articles, or heresay than I will still disagree with them.

Where do you stand on climate change yourself?

Totally twisted logic; do you really believe this? Pointless to argue with you.

                          1) this is a thread on the federal election. My comment is that you seem to be unable to accept that others have different political opinions than you although, judging by your more recent comments, that remark also applies to other fields.

                          2) I will only discuss climate change with you in the climate change thread.

                          3) I don't read the climate change thread.

I completely accept that others have different political opinions; that is how politics works.

On climate change; there is scientific evidence in spades; it is occurring and more and more rapidly. A paper out just a few days ago indicates sea level rise of 1.6 meters by 2100; this paper was a collaboration by many different scientists in many different countries at many different institutions.

What other fields are you referring to; please be more specific.

                            OK...fair enough...

How far are you above sea level? You might be interested in reading the latest book on The Cascadia Fault; I just picked up a copy of it but have not read it yet. I am taking a course on Natural Disasters and it is one topic we are looking at.

:) And I always thought that government was our attempt to work it out ourselves.
