Due to the success of the New-Tecumseth Chess Open in June of last year, I will be running another tournament at the Gibson Centre in October!
Here are the details:
Date: October 14th-16th, 2011 (Fri, Sat, Sun)
Location: Gibson Centre, 63 Tupper Street West, Alliston, On.
Style: 5 round Swiss
Rounds: Friday - 6 pm
Saturday, Sunday - 11 am, 4 pm
Sections: Open, U2000, U1600
Time control: 90 30 (90 min + 30 sec/move)
Registrations: In advance (before October 14th) by e-mail, geordie.derraugh@utoronto.ca
On site Friday, 5pm - 5:40pm (late registrants may not be paired for round 1)
Entry fee: $60 for pre-registered, $10 late fee (on Oct 14th)
Less $20 for juniors (<20), seniors (>50), women, FM’s - (max 1 discount/player)
Free for IM’s, GM’s
$10 to play “up” (one section maximum)
Sections: Open, U2000, U1600/juniors
CFC Membership: Players must be current CFC members at the time of registration or bring payment to registration desk before the first round they play.
Note: First time members of CFC will have their entry fee waived and pay only their CFC membership fee! The catch: $40 will be deducted from their prize should they win one.
Prizes: Based on entries, Top 3 in each section, unrated prize in U1600.
Equipment: Please bring clocks (esp. digital) and/or sets
Byes: Byes allowed in rounds 1-4. Please give notice at least one round in advance.
