Now that they are finished I cant get access and play them over. Only the round 2 games are available. Still some fine tuning to do...

No game this morning 27 minutes after the start of the round. My "pessimistic" post that expected things to run correctly by Monday may well turn out to be "optimistic".

I am only getting Haessel-Drkulec (board 14), and Dougherty-Mills (which is actually from round 3 - possibly the final position).

                    Re: CDN Closed - Monroi

The coverage by MonRoi for the Canadian Closed is abysmal. This is supposed to be Canada's premiere event. Get with it guys, this should be displayed for all the nation to see. There are fans from coast to coast on this one. This is a big disappointment for a major event like this.

Is there a Monroi rep at the event, or is the transmission being done by the local guys? Not that the Monroi system should need a company rep.

Very poor tech support from a company that so aggressively tried to market its system to chess players. You'd think that this would be their primary venue for displaying their product.

According to the schedule all games are supposed to start at 10:00 a.m. Right now, it is 11:28 a.m. and there is no any games displayed on Mon Roi website!
                          :(

The transmitter uses a serial port, which is ancient technology, and then there is a USB to Serial adapter since modern computers don't have serial ports. Installing the drivers for that adapter came along with a nasty virus that almost wiped out my laptop.

The other major issue is that if for ANY reason a game is started before you get the broadcasting properly set up, you can't broadcast that game anymore. Crashes are bad too.

Hopefully a future version of Monroi can fix these issues. In all fairness to them, the DGT boards have their fair share of problems involved in broadcasting.
So someone involved in the Canadian Closed 2009 tells us there were big problems with Monroi then. So what do we do this year to transmit games ? We again turn to Monroi to do the job ! As they say, "insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Here in Quebec, thanks to Luc Forget who owns two DGT boards and operates them, many tournaments have used that technology to transmit games, without serious problems.

                                Hi John:

Whether they normally would have someone on site or not at something like this ( I don't know whether they in fact do or not ), with the problems that have existed since the start, you'd think they'd by now have made sure someone was on site to do damage control! This is bad PR for their product. As someone said, for a Canadian company, you'd think they'd treat this as one of their premier events. And it is relatively a small number of boards - why the difficulty?
