Chessbase views the 16 move Grischuk-Kramnik draw is "embarrassing and disrespectful to the fans", completely missing the elephant in the room.

That is of course the embarrassing and absurd spectacle of the world's best players deciding contenders for a world title match in four games at plus a handful of blitz games (or something roughly along these lines). Disrepectable to the game itself.

In other words, it's extremely dangerous to play aggressively, because one accidental loss means you will be eliminated. Witness round 1 for proof. So players take an early draw rather than risk a dangerous position.

Disrespectful to fans: absolutely. Here was a dangerous position of the type fans love to see fought out, and they just say forget it.

I think 8 games would be a better, still easy standard for organizing the matches.
I think Sofia rules would have helped here.
I wish some rich guy would offer a $50,000 prize for every win to incite some action!
