Leonid Gherzhoy had a very impressive score at the Chicago Open last weekend. Does anyone know if it gives him a GM norm?

He finished tied for 5th place (6,5/9), winning 1100$

I don't think so. For 6.5/9, his opponents avg. rating has to be at least 2434 FIDE for GM norm - which I don't think is the case. But correct me if I'm wrong.

By replacing the weakest opponent rating by 2200, I got 2413 as the rating average... So close :(

His round 8 loss was tough, I was watching the game on monroi. Its very difficult to generate any play against a 2600 GM as black. But still an excellent performance :)

His FIDE should now be over 2500, so now its just a matter of getting all the norms.
