Thanks for the positive feedback Erik!

Before the event -- I conducted a meeting with the players and we discussed the 2 options of Game in 5 or my preferred choice of Game in 3 with 2 second increment (the new FIDE world BLITZ standard time control).

The players overwhelmingly agreed with the choice of the Game in 3 + 2

Also... we discussed single Swiss vs. double Swiss and once again... the players chose wisely and opted for a double Swiss (the standard of 1 game with White and 1 with Black with each opponent).

Excellent turnout of 66 players and a great time was had by all.

I would highly recommend this format and time control (4A on the Saitek digital clock setting).

What a fun afternoon. The event lasted about 3 hours or so followed by a nice prize distribution ceremony and cash awards!

Hi Eric, Kudos to Mark and Aris for a very nice blitz tournament yesterday. This was the polar opposite of the disaster that occured last year.
As far as the time control goes, I quess I am just old fashioned. I prefer 5-5. It seemed really fast to me. I kept looking at my clock and it seemed I was always very low on time and not able to tank in certain situations. The 2 second increment did not seem to make up for the lost 2 mins. I quess that I am getting old and my brain does not work as fast as it once did. Perhaps more practice would help. Just my 2 cents, I am sure that I am in the minority on this. Time marches on.

That is correct Aris! The first game clinched the tournament giving GM Victor Mikhalevski 11 straight victories and then we wondered if he would finish with a perfect score!

However, in the 2nd game of Round 6 (Game 12) he lost to GM Bator Sambuev but finished ahead of the field by 2 points!
