Interesting report (so far) - when do you anticipate posting the remainder of the report?
I guess that more or less asks the question: When do you think the controversy over the distribution of the funds will be settled?

            Hello Bob,

As the rookie organizers we do not know anything about CFC Rating fees...

I never heard about this during all the organizing period.

Gerry Litchfield has mentioned only FIDE Ratings fees to me.

Please advice, what are the rules for the CFC Rating fees, and we will make the corrections if necessary.

            Victor.

Curious why early bird players receive both a discount and a gift bag?

How is the playing facility a cost of zero?

Possibly complementary based on bed nights secured. That would be my guess, David.

Exactly. After reaching 300 nights it became free.

We needed to order the gift bags in advance. We have ordered 200 gift bags according to the number of early bird players have been registered by June 1.

How could we guess, how many players will register at the last second ?

IMHO: a prize fund should be expenses for organizers.

It looks to me like the organizers did a fantastic job. I was not at the event, but I spoke to a couple of people who were there and were very impressed and proud of the event. Congratulations to the organizers who must have put in a tremendous amount of time and work. As is customary in Canadian Chess, no good work goes unpunished.

Indeed, to manage collecting 42 000$ in entry fees from the players parents while spending only 11 000$ is quite a feat! From a business perspective there is certainly something to say in favour of the FIDE system that has been put in place with these Youth championships. However from a youth development perspective, this is total fiasco. The bulk of those monies will be spent in airline tickets, hotel rooms and FIDE fees of all sorts, with no or little benefit for the kids chess development.
This is not meant as criticism of the CYCC organisation who apparently
did very well within a framework which was not their responsibility.
