Will (or when) Quebec Open tournaments be rated by FIDE and CFC?

The files were supposed to be sent a few days after the event. Apparently they got lost somewhere... It will be sent again this week.

This seems to be an issue every year. In 2009, the tournament didn't appear on the FIDE site until September, so it didn't get rated until October or November.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong... I vaguely remember in 2009 someone at the CFC office told me that the delay happens because FQE cannot submit the results directly to FIDE, it has to go through the CFC for rating first before it can be submitted to CFC.

If that's the case, then the delay seems reasonable (albeit annoying when you're waiting for your first-ever FIDE rating!! :) ) considering the number of tournaments that both the CFC office and FIDE office have to process every summer.

I'm not sure about 2009 specifically off the top of my head, but I do know that in the past this delay has been related to the organizers sending in the results but not the payments, or simply not submitting anything.

After all, they don't really have to do anything differently compared to any other FIDE rated event in Canada - submitting to the FQE is separate and essentially unrelated - and yet events that occur after theirs are rated sooner...

Gerry has told me that the Quebec Open events showed up last night at 8pm. The Invitational in an Excel spreadsheet.

That leaves the CFC is a no-win situation. Rate this event and the ratings are a day late, don't rate it and players from the event will complain.

How did the rating fee show up? :)
