In 1966 most of the strong players used to go to the Toronto Chess Club. Scarborough had mainly A class and lower. The trophy may well have been the overall Club Championship.

          It was the club championship:
          http://www.canadianchess.info/canadi...onsON.html#SCC

The SCC was the largest in Toronto, 70 members in 1967 and the players in the top section would likely be almost all A-class players, closely matched. I think this is before Toronto CC became stronger again, and Hart House was likely the strongest club.

Here's a great game he won:

I'm going through all of Papa's books and there are MANY chess books. Anyone interested?? I'd love to give them to a player or a club if someone can use them. let me know.

One possibility is your father's club - the Scarborough Chess Club! I don't know if they have the space to accept some or all of his books, but I think your father would be pleased to know his library of chess books was being put to good use by "his club" - one of the largest clubs in Canada - and a club with many junior players.

                The club website is here:

                http://www.scarboroughchessclub.ca/

and several members of the club (Bob Armstrong, Steve Karpik etc) post here regularly... or you could email info@ScarboroughChessClub.ca

I recall playing against Mr. Strojevs several times over the years at SCC ... he was quite the gentleman. When playing a good position, the look on his face quite subtly reflected how much he truly enjoyed the royal game!

In the top part of the players may be almost all of the A-level players, in close coordination. I think this is a former Toronto CC becomes stronger again, and Hart House may be the strongest club.
