I think it's almost time to celebrate. I, at least, haven't found the site down at all recently.

CFC website was down Oct 1-2, as reported on the CFC board, so uncross those fingers to avoid grangrene.

No. A troll. Just using ChessTalk to spam.

In that case it is a spammer and not a troll.

Yes, you're right. Not a troll. Just a spammer. Still a pain in the butt. ChessTalk is remarkably free of this sort of thing. Not like some of the online discussion groups that I frequent.

                  SPAMMERs

What I don't understand is how a fake gets approved. I thought there was some vetting done and nicknames were not permitted on this site?

                    Hi Ken,

                    There was.

And then as the credit card companies love to say...our site was compromised...I am tech deficient...unfortunately...but I think that I will make this my pet project over the next year...since we lost our tech guru Yves Casaubon in 2009...CMA is dropping the ball in some areas where we were tops. We are fortunate to have Christian Lacasse who fills most of the holes...but I think it is time I become a little more hands on.

Afterall...that would be more constructive than being a SD :)

I cannot get onto the CFC site. No error message -- my browser just won't connect.

Had the same problem just now.

Thinking about this can be depressing. Hopefully it will get squared away sooner rather than later.

I have just reported this (7:20am ET). We'll see how long before it gets back up. The programmers are trying to fix this "leak" permanently.

Could you explain in layperson's terms, Fred, what the problem appears to be?

The lead developer has referred to it as a memory leak within Drupal. Drupal is the framework that we've built the Content Management System around.

It seems that the quick fix when this happens is to reset the server.

I do want to say that we are dealing with a professional firm with a good reputation. They are not treating this as a joke and are working to get to the bottom of this. I'm sure they do want to receive their final payment from us.
