  • First Visit to Cafe PI

Completed my travel to Montreal today and went for a visit to Cafe PI. Fun place, a lot of games were going on. There were some strong players, so I ended up losing about 2 out of 10 games (4 draws as well and 4 wins).

The food is expensive, but that may just be a big city thing.

Now to get myself involved in a local tournament. If you know of any let me know.

    There's a tournament in 2 weeks : http://www.royalgame.ca/index.php?op...mid=42&lang=en

Some good players already registered (Sambuev, Castellanos...)

Thanks, seems I'm a victim of bad timing.
I will be going back to Ontario for a few weeks starting the 23rd of December.

P.S. What's a FQE Master title? Does the FQE not honour the CFC titles?

A player is considered to be an FQE Master if he has had a 2200 (FQE) rating for 25 consecutive games played in Quebec.

There are usually about 3 (open) tournaments a year in Montreal that are CFC (and FIDE) rated, and many others that are FQE rated only.

Oh dear, so am I to start as unrated now that I'm in Quebec?
I'm hoping they'll accept for CFC rating for section entries.

Someone should fix this CFC/FQE rift...

With a CFC master rating, your initial FQE rating will probably be the same as your CFC rating - but a permanent one (not provisional).

Hugh you fell for his trap! :(
Now he's going to feel his national master rating is legit, which... it totally is!

                  Thanks Denton! :)
Btw, it was light sarcasm of what I said but I am looking forward to your results outside of Windsor, you should definitely play in the Hart House tournament that we have coming up if possible.
