The CCC Post # 2 ( Week of Dec. 23 - 29/11 ).
Q: There is some dispute about what, if any, responsibility the CFC Executive has in encouraging the 58 CFC governors attendance at the 2012 Winter Governors’ On-line Meeting ( starts Jan. 1, 2012 ) – barely more than 50% attended the 2011 Spring and Fall Meetings. Should the Executive be doing anything exceptional?
A: The Executive may be the operational arm of the Governors, but the President is also the Chair of the Assembly of Governors. So the executive, in our view, have a definite role in getting as high governor attendance as possible ( sending out a few notices to all governors prior to the meeting, including the day prior; publishing the agenda at least a week prior to the meeting for governors and members [ and e-mailing it to all governors ]; giving notice to all governors of the start of the meeting on Jan. 1; daily bulletins on the main topics of interest each day [ to all governors, especially those who have not yet attended ]; notice of start of voting; prior notice of when voting will be closing ). This may be considered a bit onerous, but really would take little time, and could be done by a member of the executive other than the president or secretary, who do have their hands full with the meeting itself. CFC deserves to get as many governor opinions from across the country on issues as it can. After all, they are supposed to be running the ship!!
