Re: New Alekhine Book from the FQE
I just found a link on the FQE site, dated today. Their price is $59.95 + tax + transport.
Larry, will you be carrying this?

I thought I recalled a recent post about this book too, but a quick search didn't bring it up. It would be nice to see some sample pages etc. just to get a feel for the production quality.Originally posted by Neil Sullivan View PostI just found a link on the FQE site, dated today. Re: New Alekhine Book from the FQE
I see now it was announced on the CFC board. For some reason, it was decided not to post it here.Originally posted by Kerry Liles View PostI thought I recalled a recent post about this book too, but a quick search didn't bring it up. I know M. Gignac is renowned as a collector of "Alekhinia". However, I have no idea of what his writing skills would be.
I'd also be curious to know how limited the print run is. But, most importantly, I think it's a very commendable initiative by the author and the FQE.

This book will be available at our Montreal store in the next day or so. It will be available on-line on Monday Jan 23, 2012.Originally posted by Neil Sullivan View PostI see now it was announced on the CFC board. For some reason, it was decided not to post it here.

The author has been working on this book for the last 12 years!
Excellent work by Guy Gignac and it is great that the FQE went ahead with the project!

Would you mind letting me (or the board) know when it's in? If it's there tomorrow, I'll pick it up before my Friday night stint at the cat shelter. :)Originally posted by Larry Bevand View PostThis book will be available at our Montreal store in the next day or so. Re : New Alekhine Book from the FQE
We didn't announce it on Chesstalk, because we were waiting for an arrangement with Larry. Now that it is done, Larry will have some copies to sell, although not many because there were 75 printed copies and half of them are already gone.
His writing skills are very good, as you can see on the CFC forum http://www.chesscanada.info/forum/showthread.php?t=2296
or on the FQE website.
Here's one of the articles about Canada, as it appeared in the Echec+ Magazine.

Again, an excellent initiative. Knowing there are only 75 copies makes buying it a very easy decision!Originally posted by Felix Dumont View PostWe didn't announce it on Chesstalk, because we were waiting for an arrangement with Larry. Re : Re: Re : New Alekhine Book from the FQE
It is not excluded, but it is not in our plans for the moment either. Considering the fact that nobody at the FQE is qualified for this, it would bring considerable costs and might not be profitable. But, as I said, it is not excluded if the book sells very well. Only 75 books have been printed for this edition, but the FQE might print more of them if there's a lot of demand.Originally posted by Egidijus Zeromskis View PostAny plans for an English edition?Last edited by Felix Dumont; Thursday, 19 January, 2012, 01:29 PM.

Re: New Alekhine Book from the FQE
Somewhere I read that there were four Alekhine's death pictures. Only two reached our times and they are available on internet.
Does this book has anything "new' about the last days of Alekhine?

Re : New Alekhine Book from the FQE
There's about 15-20 pages on his death and there's one picture in particular that I've not been able to find on internet. It's a letter by Antonio J. Ferreira, M.D., who assisted to Alekhine's autopsy. However, it might already have been published. Maybe the author could give us more details on it.

Thnx. Looked once at a price and decided - not yet. Let's wait for an English edition :)Originally posted by Felix Dumont View PostThere's about 15-20 pages on his death and there's one picture in particular that I've not been able to find on internet.
