    Re: tonight newspaper article

I dropped by and it looked like a great event. I dont know who was filming it but I hope you try to get some press coverage.

In today's free commuter newspaper, TOnight, there's an article submitted by a reader on the lack of girls in school chess, reporting on the recent Catholic School Championship and interviewing ACC regulars Joe and Mary Bellissimo. Maybe respond with an article on the Ontario Girls?

Our Friday night Sobeys advanced children's chess class was very strange in one way last weekend. It was half the usual size and for the first time in memory there were no girls in the class. Most of the girls who normally attend the class were playing in the very successful Ontario Girls' Chess Championship and had driven up to Toronto with their families the night before the tournament.

Lily and Jeannie didn't miss a beat from their great performances at OYCC. Rachel, Emily, Ellen, Melissa, Jie, Rahma all scored 60% or better.

The "adult tournament" scene is quite different then some of the events tailored for junior girls. Really, not enough is done to make the transition smooth in Canada. The popularity of these events is indicating what the players enjoy.

Congratulations Corinna! And thank you for your perseverence with this tournament. I am glad that Guelph was there this year. Hopefully next year we will have a few more.

                Hi Vlad,

Yes, the number of players from Windsor was impressed.

                    Hi Erik,

                    Thank you for dropping by.
It was in deed a great event!
May be I will ask some girls to write about the OGCC.

The media came from Talentvision, which is a Mandarin Chinese media. They approached me and I thought it was okay to film the event. The reporter's original intention was to interview some Chinese players, so I did not announce his presence.
It ended up he interviewed many players in English, includes WIM Natalia Khoudgarian. So I will try to put a link on the website.

We could have sent a few more and hopefully we will next year. Some of the girls seem a little burned out between the YCC, CMA qualifiers, OYCC and CYCC preparatory tournaments. Most have been playing almost every weekend since February or March.

We have a very healthy presence of girls playing in Windsor chess with several more who are sisters of current active players looking to join the fun in the near future.

The TV anchor at the start of the video is quite attractive. Very attractive.
