    according to the online game
    YY has now 5.5 / 7.
I looked at that game online. I thought it was impressive she evaluated her position and knew how to hold the draw.

    Very nice!

The game is posted on the chess website, Chess5 ( http://www.chess5.com ), with annotations.

When at the homepage, click on " Public Games " and then find the game on the November list of games. Then click on " View " and you will get a board and the score, and can play the game over ( it sometimes takes a bit of time for the game to load ).

Yuanling had 5.5/8 pts. going into Rd. 9.

The pairing in the final 9th round today was:
              Bd.24. 37. Köpke,Christian FM(5½) -102. Yuan,Yuanling WFM(5½) -
Kopke is a German FIDE Master with a 2356 rating.

Unfortunately, she was unable to continue her strong showing of early in the tournament, and lost the final game, to end with a decent 5.5/9 pts.. She finished # 54 on tie-break ( after being initially ranked # 102 ).

A good warm-up for the Olympiad coming up next.

I think it's clear no matter how they do we have very interesting Olympiad teams this year, teams that will be noticed.

Gerald Welling impressed by Yuan Yuanling

                      Gerald Welling wrote me:
Yesterday evening I have returned from Bad Wiessee, where two of my
friends were playing a chess tournament. ...
By the way there was a young Canadian girl playing
in the tournament. She played as a preparation for the Dresden olympiad,
and her results were quite sensational in the early stages of the event.
After defeating an intenational master, she drew with the famous Ukrainian
grandmaster Vereslav Eingorn. Eingorn is reputed for his
killer-technique, and non-titled players usually do not stand a chance
against his mechanical play but this little Canadian girl did not crack.
Near the end of the tournament she fell back and finished on 5 ½ out of 9
but it is clear that the Canadian chess federation should cherish this
                      talented player.
