VERY impressive list of players for the invitational section.

This might be the strongest invitation tournament in Canada in a decade.

It is indeed a very strong tournament. However, the Montreal International Tournament had much stronger players a few years ago, such as Ivanchuk, Nakamura and Bacrot.

Actually, what I find the most interesting in this year Quebec Invitational is the number of very strong (and young) candidates for GM norms (Yang, Naroditsky, Hansen, Noritsyn, Panjwani...)

        Hi Felix,

This is an inquiry on your invitational section.
Does this mean that only players who are invited by your organization can play?

The reason i am asking this is because I am exploring the possibility of bolstering the list of players of your invitational section with a young super GM with a FIDE rating of 2653, who is currently playing in the French Top 12 .

Can your organization still has the room to invite this player i am referring to?

I appreciate any reply and if your reply is a bit long, please send it to my email at casareno.erwin@gmail.com.

        Thank you for your reply.

          Hi Erwin,
I sent you an e-mail. We already have plenty of GMs that would be willing to play under these conditions, but it is always very interesting to have young, french-speaking grandmasters :)

Thank you very much for your swift reply to my initiative.

I understand that this is just the exploratory phase.

I will also try to contact the other tournament organizers such as

            1. 2012 Toronto Open
            2. 49th Canadian Open Chess Championship Victoria BC July 8-13
            3. 7th Edmonton International Chess Festival
            4. Guelph Summer Pro-Am June 23-24

So, will we have another GM?

...and at 2653 he's only the 5th highest rated on the Clichy team!
(just because it's a French team championship doesn't mean you have to speak a word of French) :-)

                    The word is out!

We have another GM playing in the 2012 Quebec Open

Super GM Wesley So will play in Quebec Open and will be the top seed, replacing GM Anton Kobalyov at the top.

We just need to wait for the organizers to finalize the arrangement but this is the breaking news at this minute....

Of course, i have to remind Wesley to turn off his cell phone in the playing area, least someone might accuse him of cheating.........
