  • A super GM at the Quebec Open!

A new grandmaster just registered for the Quebec Open, and is now the first player ever with a rating over 2700 to participate in this tournament.

The player in question is no one else than Lazaro Bruzon Batista, from Cuba, with a FIDE rating of 2711 (2758 in blitz!).

The invitational section of the Quebec Open will definitely be very interesting this year.

The best way to follow the games is, of course, to participate in the tournament!

Very interesting indeed. More colors....more drama....more chances for norms....

Is the list of participants updated? Is there a direct link to the pre-registered list of players? I always get lost in the Quebec website. Its like sphagetti to me....

I see former Dawson College Chess Champion Jose Abreu Cordero is playing. Looks like he came out of retirement last year for one tournament... I hope he does well!!!
No matter how big and bad you are, when a two-year-old hands you a toy phone, you answer it.
