      Hi Roger:

      Thx.

Approx. 84 games a year, or 1.6 games per week for 16.5 years, every week of the year - whew!

      I guess I'm right - my wife's a saint!

There was a fellow back in the 90s that used to hold that title of most active CFC player fairly consistently. Can´t quite remember his name. Anyone remember or is there a way to look it up? He was rated about 1900 if I remember right.

Maybe if there is a prize or medal associated with this newly proposed title it should be given to the spouse

You may be thinking of Doug Burgess of Ottawa. He played in 33 tournaments/matches (160 games) in 1997 alone. Inactive since 2003 - does anyone know what he's up to?

I don't know about the marital status of Doug Burgess, but his son (Paul) played in the late 80's, and was in the 1985 and 1987 Ontario Juniors.

When I first started going to the chess club, back in the 1950's, there was one man who used to come and watch. He never played. I asked him a couple of times and he politely refused. After a few months I asked someone why he didn't play when he came. The reply was he used to come because it was a break from his wife.

Where are Doug Burgess's stats? - c'mon he was averaging more than 200 games a year.

The CFC's database only goes back to 1996 or so. I remember some of his stats being published in EP around that time.

That's it, thanks, my friend Oscar and I used to follow his chess activities out of curiosity as he was just so active.

Too bad, he should have married Bob's wife or at least her sister and then he could have kept on and had the title. Some wives just know that their man is a wild chess bronco that just can't be saddled... :)

Thanks Roger - I had conveniently forgotten that I was no. 2 after your number crunching. And now it seems, with Serge Lacroix leading the field, I am no. 3!!

Still not bad for an old guy edging into oblivion!

Micah slowed down in the past several years to "only" about 50 games a year. In the past, he was always number one on the CFC most active list, but quite a bit and he would often play in Edmonton Monday nights which include 4 Active rounds that are not being rated!
