Re: Montreal Open - congrats to the winner Aman Hambleton

Impressive. Another tournament win from Mr. Aman. He recently won the Toronto Labor Day tournament and now this week he captures first place at the Montreal Open. He also put in a memorable performance at the World Junior capturing an IM norm last month.

Could he be Canada's next great player?

What was a secret that the last round pairing did not produce Aman vs Anton? Is a color more important than a rating?

And congrats to Joey Qin on his recent sex change... Or should I now say "her" recent sex change? :D
No matter how big and bad you are, when a two-year-old hands you a toy phone, you answer it.

Very good tournament Aman. Congratulations on clear first. Not your fault that you did not get to play Anton in the last round as everyone expected you would. Very nice win over Jean Hebert with black. Keith was impressed by your play.

Hello Don. It was good to see your son playing again. A few years ago I thought he was the next junior who was going to "take over" Canadian Chess but it seems Mr.Aman has taken his spot.

It was good to see your son have a good tournament after a horrific Canadian Open.

Re: Montreal Open - congrats to the winner Aman Hambleton

I asked the organizers about the pairings in the last 2 rounds, particulary why Anton and I did not play... They were very helpful and took the time to show me the rules that were followed. It was a question of colour conflict, which would have created 2 or 3 more problems down the pairing sheet with other players. The way the pairings were done minimized the conflicts in each round. It seemed inevitable with so many players at the same number of points in successive rounds. Nonetheless, I was upset not to have a game with Kovalyov this tournament, but I'm sure we will play soon enough.

Egidijus - We'll see. Sometimes they are a much appreciated distraction

Don - Thanks! It was good to see Keith playing again as well, he had quite a good tournament staying undefeated and drawing Kovalyov... he also had good chances for a win in the last round against Sapozhnikov but managed a draw.

Thanks to everyone for the support and encouragement. :)

                          Hi Aman,

It seems that you cannot be stopped! Way to go.
Hopefully the next time you come to Oriole, we are doing a fundraising for you to go to Chess Olympiad!
